Though Fleming died in 1964, he lived long enough to see his creation turned into a radio play, a TV special, a comic, and, of course, a feature film. ![]() Twelve James Bond novels in total would cover the adventures of Agent 007. That novel was called Casino Royale and would be the world's first introduction to the character of James Bond, an agent in Britain's MI6. In 1953, writer Ian Fleming had a novel published that is still affecting the landscape of modern entertainment today. Other actors who have played Bond include David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig, with each bringing their own unique interpretation to the character, but Craig's portrayal has been particularly well-received and has reinvigorated the franchise. The first actor to play James Bond was Barry Nelson in a one-hour TV episode, while the most famous and iconic portrayal is by Sean Connery, who played Bond seven times and is still widely recognized as the definitive Bond.
